How to get here
The Taekwon-Do Center can be reached by several means of public transport:
- Biethsstraße stop (approx. 5 mins. to the dojang): lines 5, 23, 24
- Hans-Thoma-Platz stop (approx. 10 mins. to the dojang): lines 5, 21, 23, 24 & bus 38
By car you can reach us via the B3 (Dossenheimer Landstraße). If you turn into Mühlingstr. at the petrol station, you will drive directly to the school. From the A5 motorway, it is best to take the Dossenheim exit.
We also have our own parking spaces, and parking in the adjacent residential area is free for two hours.
Construction work on Dossenheimer Landstraße
Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv) and the city of Heidelberg are making Dossenheimer Landstraße in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim fit for the future. The redesign includes new tram tracks and barrier-free stops, a new sewage and utility infrastructure, and a renewal of the road surfaces, cycle paths and footpaths.
The construction work will lead to increased traffic, as the diversion passes directly in front of our dojang. The picture on the left shows the best routes to reach us from the north and south. We encourage everyone to take the opportunity to travel on foot, by bike or by public transport. This not only helps to reduce traffic, but is also a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative.
Due to the renovation work and the associated lack of parking spaces in the district, we kindly ask those who are only dropping someone off or picking someone up to keep our parking spaces free for training participants. We understand that this is an additional challenge, but we believe that this measure will help to ease the situation for everyone.
Our history – the development of the Taekwon-Do Center Heidelberg
Taekwon-Do Center Heidelberg opened its doors on 22 September 2000 as a place where martial arts are about more than just technique. It quickly became an important centre for Taekwon-Do in Heidelberg, and the school was particularly popular with children.
A new chapter began in 2002, when Björn Pospiech – now head of the school – resumed his training after a 15-year break. He rediscovered Taekwon-Do, this time with a deeper understanding of the connection between movement, philosophy and personal development. When he took over the Taekwon-Do Center on 1 January 2007, he set himself the goal of creating a school that not only teaches martial arts but also supports people in all phases of life.
Today, the Taekwon-Do Center Heidelberg is a place for children, teenagers, students, adults and senior citizens – a community that strengthens and develops each other. The personal development and health of each individual is our top priority. That is why we are intensively involved with the relationship between student and teacher in the martial arts and continuously educate ourselves further – including scientifically.
After 15 years in our old premises, it was time for a change in 2015. The move to Zeppelinstraße was a step full of possibilities – an opportunity to break new ground and develop the centre further. At the same time, we look back with gratitude on the many experiences and memories in our previous premises.
